If Santa Won the Lottery: Luxury Christmas Gifts 2016

Luxury Christmas Gifts 2016

It’s that time of year again. The days are getting colder, the nights are getting longer… and everyone here at PlayEuroLotto HQ is starting to fantasise about the presents we’d like to buy ourselves and our loved ones if we won the lottery! Trust us, if you work at a lottery company, there’s just no way of avoiding the topic at this time of year.

We’ve decided to put our festive speculations to good use by creating this, the PlayEuroLotto guide to the ultimate luxury Christmas gifts for 2016 – our three favourite ideas from the world of luxury goods. Who knows, if you’ve been extra good this year, Santa might leave one of these extra special prezzies under your tree:

HTC Vive VR System – € 899 (€ 2.000 including setup)

For the last few years everyone seems to have been talking about the Facebook-owned Oculus Rift headset – but in hardcore gaming circles it is a different piece of VR hardware, the HTC Vive VR Headset, that’s really making waves. Built exclusively for PCs and powered by outstanding Vive VR hardware, the Vive has outstripped its competitors in just about every department.

The HTC Vive headset retails for just under € 900, but when you factor in added costs including a high-end gaming PC (preferably with Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 graphics card, or better), cables and other accessories, installation costs, and an anti-fatigue mat to stand on while you play, you’re going to be looking at an overall cost of € 2.000. Some would say it’s a small price to pay in order to bring the best VR on the mass market into your home.

Even if you’re not going to buy yourself a VR system, we strongly recommend trying out a Vive in-store or at a friend’s house – the experience is completely out of this world!

Tesla Model X P100D – approx. €145.000

Let’s take it up a notch. The Model X P100D is the ultimate electric car manufacturer’s finest – and fastest – model to date. This is the max. performance incarnation of the Model X, with a 100 kWh battery, a 336-mile range and a top speed of 155 mph. It also does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds!

Like other Model Xs, the P100D comes equipped with all the latest innovations from Elon Musk’s trend-setting company, including advanced safety and navigation features, electric all-wheel drive, the largest glass panoramic windshield currently in production, and perhaps most importantly of all, falcon wing doors.

There’s so much to love about this car, from its world-beating safety rating and pimpin’ design features to its eco-friendly credentials. You’d better hope you’re in Santa’s very, very, very good books if you want once in time for Christmas – the waiting list currently stretches all the way to Easter 2017!

Brora 38 Year Old Special Release 2016 – approx €1.650

Now this is our idea of a luxury Christmas gift. This extra special single malt from the 197-year-old Brora distillery in Scotland is now one of the world’s rarest, such has been the demand for its extraordinary profile.

This marvellous malt, characterised as ‘fresh’ and ‘delicate’ has a complex nose marrying notes of pine, pineapple, wood, oak and wax. Its flavours – including hints of almond, dark chocolate and smoke reveal a quite different side that rounds off an unforgettable experience.

Aged for 38 years and bottled this year, this one-of-a-kind whisky can provide a wonderful Christmas drinking experience for well-to-do families, or can be saved for later consumption by those with very good will-power! If we were lottery winners, this bottle would definitely be on our shopping list!

And that’s it for this year! You can find some more luxury Christmas gift ideas here in last year’s guide.
